Menachem Begin: War and Peace

Menachem Begin: War and Peace

A surprising and unfamiliar portrait of Israel’s sixth prime minister. After his 1977 election, Menachem Begin led Israel for six dramatic years, a time that produced social and political changes that are still felt deeply today. During Begin’s time in office, he faced significant challenges and made a handful of fateful decisions that led to both creating peace and launching a war. In addition, he was the first prime minister to appoint Mizrahi Jews to important political positions. The film merges never-before-seen archival footage with contemporary interviews with key figures from Begin’s time as prime minister.
