Let It Be Morning (Vayehi Boker)

Let It Be Morning

Sami lives in Jerusalem with his wife and child. An invitation to his brother’s wedding forces him to return to the Arabic village where he grew up. After the wedding, with no explanation, the village is put under lockdown by Israeli soldiers. Chaos rises overnight amongst those stuck within the walls. Cut off from the outside world, trapped in an unexpected situation, Sami watches as everything falls apart.

From director Eran Kolirin (The Band’s Visit) and adapted from the 2006 novel by Sayed Kashua, this wry and thoughtful comedy is the winner of the 2021 Ophir Award (Israeli Oscars) for Best Film, and Israel’s submission for Best International Film at the 2022 Academy Awards.
