Gisi Fleischmann helped to save thousands of Jews but couldn't save herself during WWII. Today, her name is known mostly to historians, but she was once a legendary member of the “Working Group,” an underground resistance group active in Central Europe. The Woman Rabbi tells the dramatic true story of Fleischmann, a woman torn between the sense of responsibility for her large community and for her own family.
This is the first film to date about Gisi Fleischmann, offering many discoveries from Slovak, Israeli and American archives, testimonies of witnesses and interviews with historians from Melbourne to Bratislava.
