Screened at The Jerusalem Jewish International Film Festival in 2013, this road movie follows a group of Israeli teenagers – all from different backgrounds – who set off on what becomes a personal and fascinating journey following the route of the original “Bricha Movement”.
The Bricha Movement was set up to help Jews escape from post-war Europe to Israel. Along various stops on the way through modern Europe, the teenagers meet survivors, witnesses and locals and hear of their first-hand and extraordinary experiences. The Israelis also meet those who did the trail before them.
During their journey the teenagers encounter complex viewpoints and emotions that inform their understanding of their selves and of their history. This film is an amusing, eye-opening documentary that uses a cross-generational approach to explore themes of history, connectedness and interpreting of the past.
