Filmmaker Laurent Bouzereau chronicles the notorious existence of cinematic auteur, Roman Polanski; a life that plays out far more unrealistically than fiction.
This thorough documentary hits all the monumental moments that have made Polanski both ‘The Man and the Myth’ – from his childhood in the Krakow ghetto, his first films in Poland, his relocation to Paris, his rollercoaster career in both Europe and America, the gruesome murder of his pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, the controversy surrounding his arrest in 1977, and his Oscar win for The Pianist, right through to his current work and life in France with wife Emmanuelle Seigner.
Conversations with Polanski were recorded at his home in Gstaad where he was under house arrest after being apprehended on his way to the Zurich Film Festival in 2009. They all come together here with film excerpts, news and press clippings, as well as private and exclusive photos and historical documents that illustrate a luminary who never strays far from controversy.
