“Filmmaking of the first order... astounding and thoroughly inspirational” – Variety
Unique and inspiring, Presenting Princess Shaw chronicles the unlikely friendship that grows between Israeli Youtube mash-up artist, Kutiman, and Princess Shaw, a troubled New Orleans singer. By day, Princess Shaw is Samantha, a hard-working carer for the elderly in one of New Orlean’s toughest neighbourhoods, but by night she lets loose with raw and vulnerable confessionals and a capella performances that reveal a difficult past and fragile present. When Kutiman chances upon a Princess Shaw video online, he is impressed by her voice and candid expression and decides to use her in his next mix. When he publishes the song online, Princess Shaw’s life changes forever.
Israeli documentarian Ido Haar captures the advent of an inspiring and unexpected relationship with a memorable homage to the power of the Internet to connect disparate individuals.
Nominated for Best Documentary at the 2016 Ophir Awards (Israeli Oscars).
