“With an artful, empathic hand, he [Marian Marzynski ] tells the stories of other survivors as well, capturing their childhood memories as they grapple with the trauma and loss of their early lives. There are uplifting scenes, too, of Jewish culture and heritage being celebrated in the streets of Krakow.” – JTA
Screened as part of the The National Centre of Jewish Film’s 15th Annual Film Festival in 2012 this is a film by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Marian Marzynski who was born in Poland and survived the Holocaust as a Jewish child hidden by Christians.
In Never Forget to Lie, Marzynski's explores his own wartime childhood and the experiences of other child survivors of the Warsaw Ghetto who express their feelings about Poland, the Catholic church and the ramifications of identities forged under circumstances where survival depended on the directive: "never forget to lie".
