Premiered at the Busan International Film Festival, In Hiding is an intimate portrayal of an intense relationship between two women in exceptional circumstances.
In German-occupied Poland – in 1944 toward the end of World War Two – Janina’s life is changed forever when her father offers shelter to his Jewish friend’s daughter, Ester. When her father is arrested, Janina must take care of Ester by herself and in their isolation, fear and loneliness an intimacy between the two women is formed. This film articulates an obsessive love between two people thrown together in extreme circumstances and its catastrophic effects on one woman.
