In this captivating and moving documentary, Czech Holocaust survivors recount the seemingly impossible: pleasant memories of Auschwitz.
German Jew and unsung hero, Alfred ‘Freddy’ Hirsch, dedicated himself to lessening the impact of Nazi terror on children's lives. In Terezin, he looked after children and obtained space for a playground and, in Auschwitz, Hirsch managed to get one building dedicated as a ‘children’s block.’ While he didn’t survive, the remarkable Freddy Hirsch lives on in the memories of those who, thanks to him, experienced some joy in the midst of hell.
Director Aaron Cohen and Producer Esther Bejar Capuano are guests of the festival thanks to the generous support of Ray White.
