Einstein in the Holy Land (Einstein be'eretz hakodesh)

Einstein in the Holy Land

“I liked having the opportunity to peek into what went on in that superior brain when it was not engaged in cracking the secrets of the universe, but in writing stinging and funny entries about this strange place” – Noa Ben Hagai, director

In 1923, Albert Einstein visited Palestine, travelling to Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It was a visit that would have a profound impact on the legendary scientist, who struggled with an inner conflict: he was a Zionist, but one who intensely disliked nationalism.

This documentary, based on Einstein’s personal travel diary, presents the world with the first-ever insight into Einstein’s thoughts during his trip to the Holy Land. Never before has the story of Israel’s formation been told from the perspective of one of history’s greatest minds, who turned down the opportunity to be Israel’s first president.
