In this personal and probing documentary, filmmaker Michal Weits turns the camera back on her family and herself as she grapples with the legacy left by her great-grandfather Joseph Weits.
The Jewish National Fund’s (JNF) ubiquitous Blue Box campaign was internationally successful in raising support for the purchase and forestation of land in early 20th century Palestine. Joseph Weits, filmmaker Michal Weits’ great-grandfather, was a key figure in the organisation. Through Weits's private journals and exhaustive archival research, his great-granddaughter Michal explores his ambivalence about the impact of his actions. Her willingness to openly question the values she was raised to believe leads to difficult conversations with her relatives. The result is a painful and enlightening exploration of a nation's past with a conviction to address uncomfortable truths.
