“Avoid sensitive issues: Israel, the Dalai Lama, burqas. Not a word about France’s soccer team.”

Marie and Claude Verneuil are a conservative, respectable upper-class couple with four beautiful daughters. The eldest three have married a Jew, an Arab and an Asian man respectively, so when they discover their fourth daughter is engaged to a Catholic, they’re delighted… until they discover he is African. Claude decides to sabotage the wedding, finding an unlikely ally in his potential son-in-law’s father, who agrees with Claude in one thing only: what did they do to deserve this?
